Objectives of Underwater Ecosystems.

The plight of Earth’s ecosystems is an area of continuing concern around the globe. Increasingly, more and more attention is put on their deterioration by the media and governments and what can be done in turning this continuing trend around.

The world’s oceans are under increasing pressure from worldwide fisheries, coastal development, global warming and many other stressors.

Despite this, only around 5% of the oceans remains explored. With such a huge deficit in knowledge of such an important global habitat, working towards its preservation is somewhat impaired.

Our objectives at Underwater Ecosystems are to

  • Equip divers with the knowledge and skills required to go out on survey projects worldwide.
  • Promote further understanding of how underwater ecosystems evolve and function.
  • Accurately monitor and record the diversity of life found in underwater ecosystems.
  • Provide data to research institutes and governments who can use it in monitoring and protection of these ecosystems.
  • Make a difference in the conservation and management of underwater ecosystems, ensuring these important environments remain for generations to come.
