Posidonia Project.

Worldwide, seagrass makes up an important coastal habitat. Seagrass meadows provide a habitat for numerous organisms and are important nursery grounds for many ecologically important finfish and shellfish species. The blades of the grasses themselves also play host to numerous small algae species and other small organisms.
Around the Mediterranean, this is no different, where Neptune grass (Posidonia oceanica) is the dominant species. The Posidonia meadows constitute the largest and most important community along the coasts of the Mediterranean.

We will be working with scientists from the Posidonia Life Project in monitoring the condition of areas of seagrass at sites around Ibiza island. The data collected can then be used by Posidonia Life project in their ongoing monitoring programmes.

Biologists from the programme will be working with us for at least the first 2 weeks of the 4 week programme offering us the benefit of their extensive knowledge of this important habitat.
